This post is not coming out because of my Technical interests. I am writing this post because I had to write it. India is a developing country. We have a large pool of doctors, scientists and engineers. Still a very huge population in rural India is illiterate with female illiteracy rate touching alarmingly high marks.
Let me introduce you to Nanhi Kali Project. This project is aimed to improve the girl literacy rate in India and abroad. Nanhi Kali project helps poor and illiterate girls to realize their dreams by providing them both material support including stationery, books, hygiene material, uniforms, shoes, under clothing, etc. and academic support within the school premises before or after school hours. You can also sponsor a girl child at Rs. 1800 (~$ 40) per annum for a Nanhi Kali (Studying in Std. 1 to std.7) Rs. 2500 (~$ 55) per annum for a Nanhi Kali (Studying in Std. 8 to Std 10).
Nanhi Kali has devised an innovative way to appeal for donations. They have made a short movie which can be viewed here but wait! The movie is in 11 parts. Each part unlocks after Nanhi Kali funds crosses a certain amount. So if you want to watch the movie, please donate.
