We told you about a few suspicious apps made by a Vietnam-based Thuat Nguyen which were eating up money from certain app store and iTunes clients. As it turns out, Apple just got rid of all the apps made by this developer. Apple said that the developer violated the Program License Agreement in a way that rigged fraudulent purchases of his e-books. A few hundred users were charged as high as $600 for the ebooks they never purchased. We recommend our readers to check their iTunes account and remove all the sensitive information which can lead to monitory loss.
If you are an Apple App Store customer or an iTunes user then make sure that you check out your bank account statement. It seems that a lot of Apple ids have been compromised and are being used to buy apps on App store. Hundreds of dollars are missing from a few users’ account. It is suspicious that out of top 50 book apps 40 were created by a Vietnamese developer “Thuat Nguyen”. MacRumors forum thread shows that a number of users had their account compromised and hundreds of dollars were spent from their account to buy some apps which they never purchased personally.
