During an interview at the D8 conference, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg removed his hood only to reveal what we are showing you here: The Facebook Insignia.

According to TechCrunch “The folks at SFWeekly managed to recreate the diagram and did a thorough analysis on what it might mean. The Next Web thought it was creepy. And back at Facebook HQ, three goats were sacrificed in an attempt to ward off yet another wave of bad press.” Here’s a brief breakdown of what it means: -
The insignia is broken down into three parts: Graph, Stream, and Platform. Graph refers to the Social Graph (and Facebook’s Open Graph initiative), Stream represents the flow of information and status updates between users, and Platform represents the Facebook Platform.
- The arrows on the insignia go in both directions, signifying that sharing and openness doesn’t go in one direction.
- “Making the World More Open and Connected is the unofficial mission statement of Facebook.
