It is true that Google has lost Matthew Papakipos, the key architect of Chrome OS to Facebook. With Chrome OS release dates approaching, loosing such an important developer can’t be good for any company. And Google has lost it to Facebook, a potential threat to Google. We just heard this form Slashdot that Google is working to introduce HTML 5 to Gmail. This would not only make the page loading faster but will also impart a cool new look with awesome features to Gmail. Just recently Google introduced HTML5ROCKS, a website to demonstrate HTML 5 stuff along with a coding playground and a handful of tutorials.

Google has decided to bring its own HTML5 website called HTML5Rocks. The website not only provides some demos but also has some tutorials to help you get started with HTML5. It also has a code playground where you can write code and test it for yourself. Now, of course, the website works well on Google Chrome but it also works with Safari.

Gmail just retired some of the “not-so-frequently” used features and graduated some the features from Gmail Labs. Gmail Lab was launched over an year ago so that engineers at Google could introduce new features into Gmail without any hassles.
