Apple has just released the latest iteration of the oh-so-popular iPod Nano. This presents the largest deviation from the factor since, well forever!!
The new Nano loses all hardware buttons to make way for a complete Multi-Touch screen. It now has only the volume buttons in hardware form, and its tiny-almost as small as the shuffle, so it has an clip now. The clip makes it easy to clip it on during workouts, jogs or just anytime without the use of those pesky armbands.
The tiny, 1.54″ touchscreen iPod Nano is 46% smaller and 42% lighter than its predecessor, and scarcely larger than the new iPod Shuffle. It has hard volume buttons, Voiceover (with 29 languages), FM radio, Nike+ support, and a pedometer, and Apple’s saying it has 24 hour battery life. It comes in the same four colors as the new Shuffle, as well as graphite red and a Global Fund-sponsored red. $149 for 8GB; $179 for the 16GB version.
Although the screen is small the multitouch screen might help make the navigation easy. The video camera and video have been completely nicked from the nano. Only the Touch can now record and play videos. To rotate the screen just hold with two fingers the screen and rotate-easy to grasp, intuitive Apple-y implementation.
As Engadget had to say about the hands-on:
Super thin, super light, and really, the capacitive multitouch works very well. The screen is crisp and top menu navigation is smooth

hey, awesome design! But just $30 more for the 16 GB version won't hit the sales of the 8GB one?
