Yaps was started by college going students with a common interest in technical blogging and an endeavor to share this knowledge with others. Each one of us collaborate and strive to bring quality information about the latest happenings in the tech world. Our blogging ranges from something as simple as the launch of a new product, to something as complex as a tutorial for troubleshooting Linux. We love gadgets and open source tools but we take time in playing and hacking windows too. Our website is hosted on WordPress, on a Linux server and uses a MySQL database. All of us are well versed with open source operating systems and constantly hope to contribute in some way back to the community from whom we borrowed.

We do product reviews of various gadgets, and published detailed, factual and an unbiased review. Our main draw is the fact that we are based in Asia, a consumer goods haven and more specifically in India where the purchasing potential is highest among the teens(i.e. our target/focus group). We review softwares, Open Source as well as proprietary licensed. We were the official Media Partners for the OSI Days 2010, covering their entire event from start to end and reporting studiously and regularly updating the blog. Soon we shall start “liveblogging” wherein the updates of the events keep coming in “live”. Any conference resonates with our desire to learn more and disseminate the information into the public. Hence any big conference you can count us in.  We also freelance, helping the concerned party setting up a website, filling it up and then submitting it back to them for use as they see fit for a nominal fee.
